Hi Has anyone noticed a massive reduction of speed since the last firmware update in May. I'm on a 120mb connection and the best I can get is 2mb (hard wired) unless I turn off the firewall (windows firewall tested as well as Kaspersky). The support guy on the phone took control of my pc and after wasting my time and his, he wasted some more time by putting pc into safe mode he then tested the speed again and it was back to normal. He went on to say that there was something on my computer like a virus or some software that is slowing the connection down. Little did he know that it was a fresh install of windows 7 and also that other people locally have the same problem, some of which have been offered money back.

I believe they have been told what to say in order not to give refunds as they must have been inundated with complants. I pay a lot of money to VM and I'm not happy to say the least. Click to expand.Suit yourself, but no they do not take control of your PC. They have no responsibility for your hardware and only take responsibility for the hardware they install. They do not access your PC and can only access the SuperHub or a VM STB and not devices connected to it.

Virgin Broadband Firmware Patch

If you are giving any Tom, Dick or Harry on the other end of a phone remote access to your PC then I'm not surprised you've internet connection and speed issues. You also state that speeds went back to normal so what is the problem? Yes I read your post, not all of which makes sense and as I already posted, not everyone is experiencing a drop in speed. As you've been informed, the issue is in relation to your computer and its network settings or other factors which are beyond their control and not Virgin Media's responsibility to deal with. The SuperHub and/or the VM network are not to blame. Driver Ic Ensemble Envy24 Audio Controller Xp here.

VM have no responsibility for your PC or how it is configured. They can advise you on how it can be configured, but owe you nothing if this doesn't result in the speed increasing or the issue being resolved.

Burning Godzilla Mugen. Neither are they responsible for any viruses or virus protection you've installed onto that PC. If your Firewall is restricting the speed then this has sod all to do with Virgin Media.
